1 Timóteo 6

William MacDonald - This verse emphasizes the truth that it is possible for us to use our material things in such a way in this life that they will reap eternal dividends. (Borrow Believer's Bible Commentary) "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep, to gain what he cannot lose." -- Jim Elliot Thomas Lea - Paul stressed that generous actions allow the giver to lay hold of eternal life in the here and now. Paul had urged Timothy to lay hold of this in 1Ti 6:12. Here Paul expressed that taking hold of eternal life is a goal of the unselfish giving he had commanded. Christians who enter the life of love by unselfish behavior will enter gloriously into God’s presence in the life to come. (See New American Commentary)
