João 3
Wiersbe - JOHN 3 A birth from above (Jn 3:1–9). In our first birth, we are “born of the flesh” and “born of water”; but in our second birth, we are “born from above [again]” and “born of the Spirit.” Our first birth leads to death, but our second birth brings eternal life. The new birth is a new beginning that results in “newness of life” (Rom. 6:4). A Savior from above (Jn 3:10–21). Jesus is the Son of God come down from heaven. He is the serpent Moses wrote about (Num. 21:4–9); He is the Father’s love gift (Jn 3:16); He is the Light in a dark world (Jn 3:19). Like the serpent, He was lifted up, and He died on a cross for the sins of the world. All who look to Him by faith receive eternal life. A witness from above (Jn 3:22–36). John’s ministry was given to him from heaven (Jn 3:27). His task was to bear witness to Jesus (Jn 1:6–8). Jesus is the Word, and John was only a voice proclaiming the Word (Jn 1:23). Jesus is the Bridegroom, but John was only the best man. John did no miracles, but his witness was used to win people to Christ, even after he was dead (Jn 10:40–42). Can you honestly say, “He must increase, but I must decrease” (Jn 3:30)? Nicodemus - Nicodemus came to Jesus by night, but he finally came out into the light and identified with the Lord Jesus (Jn 19:38–42). Nicodemus gave Jesus an honest hearing (Jn 7:45–52), examined the Word, and became a believer. (Borrow With the Word) Nic At Nite I have come as a light into the world, that whoever believes in Me should not abide in darkness. —John 12:46 Today's Scripture: John 3:1-21 According to the apostle John, Nicodemus “came to Jesus by night” (John 3:2). Was this Pharisee skulking under cover of darkness, embarrassed or ashamed that he, as one of the ruling class, was curious about Jesus? Some have suggested that it was just cooler at night. Others have said that evening was a better time to ask Jesus questions because it was quieter and there were fewer distractions. We really don’t know the reason Nicodemus went to Jesus at night, but John seemed determined to make a point of that specific fact. Every time he mentioned Nicodemus, he identified him by saying something like: “You know who I’m talking about—the guy who came to Jesus by night” (see Jn 7:50+; Jn 19:39). Nicodemus, no doubt, was quite moral and lived according to Mosaic Law. People probably thought he was a pretty good person. Yet none of that mattered. He was in the dark about who Jesus really was, and he wanted to know the truth. So he was drawn from the darkness into the presence of “the light of the world” (John 8:12+). Faith in Christ is not a leap into the dark; it’s a step into the Light. John 3:3 Jesus answered and said to him, "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God."
João 3
Wiersbe - He will pour water on the land and His Spirit on the people (59:21; Ezek. 34:26; Joel 2:28-29; John 7:37-39), and both will prosper to the glory of the Lord. The final fulfillment of this will be in the future Kingdom Age when Messiah reigns. (Be Comforted - Isaiah).
