2 Crônicas 16
Murray - FULLY COMMITTED HEART “The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him.” 2 CHRONICLES 16:9 In worldly matters, we know how important it is that work should be done with the whole heart. In the spiritual realm, this rule should also hold true. God has promised in Jeremiah 29:13 that “if you look for me in earnest, you will find me when you seek me.” It is amazing that earnest Christians, who attend to their daily work with all their hearts, are so content to take things easy in the service of God. They do not realize that, if anywhere, they should give themselves to God’s service with all the power of their will. In the words of our text, we get an insight into the absolute necessity of seeking God with a fully committed heart. What an encouragement this should be to us to humbly wait on God with an upright heart. We can be assured that His eye will be upon us and that He will show forth His mighty power in us and in our work. Christian, have you learned this lesson in your worship of God—to yield yourself each morning with your whole heart to do God’s will? Pray each prayer in true wholehearted devotion to Him. In faith, expect the power of God to work in you and through you. Charles Swindoll - A HEART FOR THE TASK (See Wisdom for the Way: 365 Days of Wise Words for Busy People) The eyes of the LORD search the whole earth in order to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. 2 CHRONICLES 16:9 God’s choices often seem so illogical from our point of view. We tell ourselves it can’t be what He really means. Would you have singled out a sun-withered, eighty-year-old shepherd to face down one of the mightiest kings in the world? Moses had been out to pasture for forty years. He had completely lost touch with his people. He’d been raising a little family, living with and working for his father-in-law. In four decades the man couldn’t scrape together enough shekels to build a little place of his own. Admit it, doesn’t he seem like a highly unlikely prospect for the job of delivering an entire people group from the clutches of a mighty nation? God’s eyes roam across the planet to find specific individuals whose hearts are just right for a particular task He has in mind. And when He finds them, watch out! He plunges them into the stream of action, upholding them with His mighty hand. Moses: A Man of Selfless Dedication Do you feel ill-equipped for a task suddenly placed before you? What if the only thing you need is a heart devoted to the Lord? [Your Response Here] David Jeremiah - ALL IT TAKES For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. Dwight L. Moody preached the Gospel to more people in the nineteenth century than anyone else in the world. He left home at age seventeen with the equivalent of a fifth-grade education. He was won to Christ as a teenager, and in 1873, a friend in England challenged him with the following statement: “The world has yet to see what God can do with a man fully consecrated to him.” Moody’s reply was, “With God’s help, I aim to be that man.” That challenge certainly motivated Moody, but it wasn’t altogether accurate. For the world had already seen what God would do with a man fully committed to Him. Daniel, taken from Jerusalem to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar, immediately impressed his pagan captors. His physical appearance, his wisdom, and his unswerving commitment to his God elevated him to a place of influence—all without compromising his beliefs. Noah, Joseph, Daniel, Paul—all were ordinary people whom God used to do extraordinary things. Will today’s world see extraordinary things done for God? All it takes is a person like Daniel or Dwight L. Moody—that is, a person like you—fully consecrated to God. (See David Jeremiah Morning and Evening Devotions: Holy Moments) Charles Swindoll - 2Ch 16:9 - What is God looking for? He is looking for men and women whose hearts are completely His— completely. That means there are no locked closets. Nothing’s been swept under the rugs. That means that when you do wrong, you admit it and immediately come to terms with it. You’re grieved over wrong. You’re concerned about those things that displease Him. You long to please Him in your actions. You care about the motivations behind your actions. That’s true spirituality. C H
