Robertson wrote that "When God enters into a covenantal relationship with men, He sovereignly institutes a life-and-death bond. A covenant is a bond in blood, or a bond of life and death, sovereignly administered." THE COVENANT PROMISE OF THE LAND IS NOT "I WILL GIVE" BUT "I HAVE GIVEN!" Saying, "To your descendants I have given this land- What land? The "promised land" the boundaries of which are given below. Mattoon - In Genesis 13:15, God said, "I will give the land" and now in verse eighteen God says, "I have given" for the sacrifice and covenant has now been made.
