Lucas 8:8
[(as quoted by Aquinas, AD 1274)] (Hom. in Princ. Prov.) Hearing has reference to the understanding. By this then our Lord stirs us up to listen attentively to the meaning of those things which are spoken. — Catena Aurea by Aquinas
Lucas 8:8
What should we say concerning this: "He who has ears to hear, let him hear"? It is evident that some possess ears better able to hear the words of God. What does he say to those who do not have those ears? "Hear, you deaf, and, you blind, behold." All such expressions are used in reference to the inner man. — HOMILY ON PSALM 33.13
Lucas 8:21
Intimacy with the Lord is not explained in terms of kinship according to the flesh, but it is achieved by cheerful willingness in doing the will of God. — THE MORALS 22
